Hi Friends! How was your New Years Day? Ours was quiet! Everyone slept in after staying up late the night before and there was a lot of football being watched. I actually worked out!! Yay Me! I had set some goals for myself regarding fitness and a healthier lifestyle, so I was determined to get started right away. More about that later.
The experts say that buying yourself something new when you are starting a new fitness program can help you get and stay motivated! I definitely feel better when I have some cute, fresh workout gear rather than the same old black leggings that I’ve been wearing for five years. I have rounded up some bright fitness gear that is sure to make you feel great about hitting the gym. New shoes are definitely on my list right now! I’m also sharing my fitness goals with you. I need the motivation as much as anyone right now!
Was 2018 a good health and fitness year for you? Although 2018 was a good for me in so many ways, in the fitness department, well, not so much. Early on in 2018 I was motivated but as the year went on something changed. I feel like I had the blues. Not a full blown depression but definitely something. I had so much going on and I continued to be productive in all other areas except my own health and fitness. Isn’t that how a lot of us are though?
Stop the Insanity!
Prioritizing everything else above our own wellness is definitely not healthy. But when you are in the thick of it, it is so easy to do! “Oh, Ill just blow off this work out today” “ I just cant fit it in” ,“I’ve got so much to do”!!! I have said them all! And, I had so many excuses that I have not been to the gym since May! TRUTH! I have literally paid over $700 in gym membership fees to not go AT ALL!! That is CRAZY and DUMB! Now, I did have an injury in that time frame but no excuses, I just lost my motivation and didn’t want to go. I don’t know why. I have asked myself this question so many times but the bottom line is, I need to go. In the time that I didn’t go and didn’t really take care of myself, I gained weight, lost muscle tone, got weaker (I feel weak!), started feeling sluggish and tired, lost my motivation to eat healthy and the end result is I FEEL BAD!!! I really do! So, Here’s MY health/ wellness/ fitness goals for 2019.
My Health and Fitness Goals for 2019
-
- I will lose 5-7 lbs and fit nicely into all of my clothes without a muffin top by April 1
-
- I will feel strong and healthy and have more energy by January 31
- I will look toned and firm by June 1
My Plan:
30 minutes minimum of cardio 5 times per week. I will do at least 30 minutes daily on the elliptical at home.
Hit the gym a minimum of 3 days per week. (this is the crusher for me because I hate the gym so I am also going to have a backup plan for home workouts if I don’t go to the gym)
Healthy Diet
Pre plan healthy meals. I’m so guilty of not planning ahead and then just eating whatever is convenient. Planning is everything!
Drink a minimum of 64 oz daily but make 1 gallon my daily goal.
I measured the amount of ounces that my tervis tumbler holds (13 oz.) and figured out that I need to drink 10 glasses of water to reach the 1 gallon per day goal.
I am making some charts and checklists ( I love charts and checklists) to track my progress. If they work for me, I will pass them on to you!
Do you think my goals are attainable? What are your fitness goals for the new year? Share them with me in the comments! We can do this together! Check out yesterday’s post here about goal setting and planning. Now go grab your workout gear and crush those goals! Thanks for reading!
